Saloon Energy

Step into a forgotten chapter of energy history. In an exhibition that raises questions about nuclear power, innovation, social change and cultural heritage, you are invited to travel to a place few people have ever visited – and that no longer exists.

Enter Saloon energy – The Ågesta Nuclear Power Plant, where selected objects and personal stories from the people who built and worked at the facility bring this unique site back to life.

A piece of history that has been forgotten.

Hidden inside the mountain lay a remarkable cultural heritage site, telling the story of technological progress, optimism about the future, and the dream of a modern welfare state. In this exhibition, we uncover stories that have long remained untouched and look back at what we once left behind.

At Salong Energi – The Ågesta Nuclear Power Plant, you can explore rare and carefully selected objects, including the plant’s original control panel, radiation protection equipment, models and architectural drawings of Ågesta. Listen to the voices of those who built and operated the plant, and watch the documentary film Ågesta – A Ripple in Time.

What dreams inspired the people who built, ran and ultimately decommissioned Ågesta? What do those dreams reveal about a small yet technologically advanced country trying to navigate the global energy market and step into the nuclear age?

Dive into an exhibition that challenges, moves and provokes thought – but perhaps also offers hope, with a glimpse into the future of nuclear technology.
